DR KIRILL ZIMARIN
Dr Kirill Zimarin graduated with honours from the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Economics of Foreign Countries and International Relations. In 1996, he obtained a PhD in Economics from the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, and in 2015, a doctorate degree in Economics from the same university.
In 2005, he joined RCB Bank Ltd and he is currently a member of its Board of Directors and the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer. In 2008, he was elected President of the Association of International Banks in Cyprus, a position he holds until today. In 2011, he became a member of the International Affairs Steering Group of the European Banking Federation (EBF).
In 2016, Dr Zimarin has been appointed as a member of the International Presidential Business Advisory Council that plays an important role in forming business policy in Cyprus.
SIR CHRISTOPHER PISSARIDES
NOBEL LAUREATE IN ECONOMIC SCIENCES, REGIUS PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS OF LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE
Sir Christopher Pissarides is Regius Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics, Professor of European Studies at the University of Cyprus, and Helmut & Anna Pao Sohmen Professor-at-Large of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He was educated at the University of Essex and the London School of Economics (LSE), and he spent the bulk of his career at the LSE. He had served as a visiting professor at the US Universities of Harvard, Princeton and California at Berkeley. Sir Christopher specialises in the economics of labour markets, macroeconomic policy, economic growth, and structural change. He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Economics, jointly with Dale Mortensen of Northwestern University and Peter Diamond of MIT, for his work in the economics of markets with frictions. He was knighted in 2013.
ALOJZY Z. NOWAK
PROFESSOR, DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW
Alojzy Z. Nowak is an expert in banking, international economics, risk management in financial markets and capital markets, macro and microeconomics, and economic analysis of the EU. He has published numerous books and articles. Mr Nowak is the President of MBA Programme, University of Warsaw and University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Visits and apprenticeships at universities abroad include, among others: University of Cambridge; Postgraduate Business School (Grenoble, France); Rostov University; University of North Florida.
ADVISOR, RCB BANK
Demetra Ellina, a qualified accountant specializing in regulatory compliance matters in the financial services sector. Demetra started her career with the Central Bank of Cyprus, where she worked for eight years. She then moved to London where she worked for retail and investment banks (Bank of Cyprus, ABN AMRO) until 2006. Upon her return to Cyprus, Demetra joined PwC Cyprus and worked on a number of assignments, assisting banks and investment firms in complying with European and Cypriot laws and regulations. She held a position of Director of the Consulting department of PWC. In 2019, Demetra joined RCB Bank.
DIRECTOR OF THE CYPRUS CENTER OF INTERCULTURAL STUDIES, UNIVERSITY OF NICOSIA
Marilena Zackheos holds a BA in Philosophy and a BA in English Language and Literature with a concentration in Poetry Writing from the University of Virginia, and an MA in English Studies from Queen Mary, University of London, an MPhil in English and a PhD in English (specializing in Postcolonial Studies) from George Washington University. She has been the Director of The Cyprus Center for Intercultural Studies since September 2012. She is also Assistant Professor of Social Sciences at the University of Nicosia. Her specializations cover postcolonial literary and cultural studies, diaspora studies, island literatures, gender and sexuality, psychoanalysis and trauma.
PSYCHOLOGIST, COACH, PRESIDENT OF INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOLOGY INSTITUTE
Vladislav has over 15 years of experience in practical psychology and 7 years of experience in coaching.
After acquiring a degree in engineering from The Bauman Moscow State Technical University in Russia in 2000, Vladislav earned a master’s degree in industrial engineering and technological innovations from Ecole Centrale in Paris in France where he worked and lived for 10 years. During 2001-2010 Vladislav completed a 4-year course in psychoanalysis and 6-year studies of gestalt therapy. Since 2010 Vladislav has been working in Moscow applying his knowledge in practical psychology at international executive search companies while leading and conducting coaching and assessment projects. In 2017, Vladislav acquired master’s degree in clinical psychology & hypnotherapy at RANEPA (Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration).
PROFESSOR, FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT, UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS
Sofronis Clerides hοlds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin and a PhD in Economics from Yale University. He has worked as a researcher at the World Bank and taught at Yale University and the European University Institute. In 2009-10 Mr. Clerides was a Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University. He is currently a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a Senior Fellow at the Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis. As of November 2016, he is the Chair of the Economics Department.
The primary research field of Mr. Cledires is empirical industrial organization. He has worked on issues relating to pricing, price discrimination, and quality assessment. He has also done work on international trade issues such as the link between exporting and productivity and international trade in used goods. Sofronis Clerides is currently working on the evaluation of pollution control policies in the road transport sector and on consumer behaviour in retail markets.
DR GRIGOR AKHINOV
PROFESSOR, FACULTY OF ECONOMICS, M.V. LOMONOSOV MOSCOW STATE UNIVERSITY
Professor, Dr Grigor Akhinov is a Doctor of Economic Science and Professor at the Economics Faculty at M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. He is the author/co-author of more than 150 publications, including 10 monographs and textbooks. His specialization is in the fields of public (state) finance, economic and social policy in the framework of Russian economic reforms.
Dr Grigor Akhinov is one of the developers of the Russian version of the “Public Sector of Economics” teaching course.
